Full Mouth Cosmetic Makeovers

A makeover makes sense when several things about your smile bother you at once. Worn or chipped edges, discoloration, uneven or gapped teeth, old work that no longer matches the teeth beside it. Fixed one at a time, those repairs tend not to blend, because each one was planned against whatever happened to be there that year rather than against a single design.

It is a combination plan, not a single procedure. Depending on your case it might include porcelain veneers, crowns, whitening, bonding, contouring, or clear aligners first to move teeth before anything is bonded to them. Which of those you need is the output of the planning rather than a decision made before it starts.

That also means a makeover is not automatically the bigger, better answer. If one tooth is the problem, one tooth is the treatment, and bonding a single chipped corner in one visit is a much smaller commitment than a staged plan. If the shade is all that bothers you, whitening is the cheaper and less invasive route. We would rather tell you that at the consultation than build a plan around work you do not need.

We begin with a conversation about what you like in your smile and what you would change. Then photographs, scans of your teeth, and a look at how your lips and face frame them, because a tooth length that works on one face reads wrong on another.

Using digital smile design, we map a proposed result so you can see it before any treatment begins. Nothing is decided at that first appointment. You give feedback on shape, length, and shade until it looks like you rather than like a template, and only then do we fix the sequence and the mix of treatments.

Shade is worth slowing down on. Brighter is not automatically better, and a veneer shade is fixed once it is bonded. We plan it against your skin tone, the whites of your eyes, and the teeth that are not being treated. The plan names which teeth are being treated and which are only being matched to them, so you can see where that line falls before the sequence is fixed.

Then it goes in writing. The plan, the sequence, the number of appointments, and the cost, all before you commit to anything. Most plans run across several visits rather than one long day, and you will know how many at the start instead of finding out as you go.

Health comes before aesthetics, and that order is not negotiable. Active decay, gum disease, or a bite problem gets treated first, because cosmetic work built over an unresolved problem does not last. Bonding to an unhealthy tooth does not hold, and porcelain placed over a bite that is wearing teeth down will wear too.

So a makeover sometimes starts with work that has nothing cosmetic about it. A filling. A course of gum treatment. A nightguard, if you grind. We will tell you plainly if something needs handling before the cosmetic stage begins, and what that adds to your timeline and your cost.

The rest of the order follows the same logic. Alignment comes before restoration, because moving a tooth into position often means less tooth has to be removed afterward, and sometimes means the restoration is no longer needed at all. Whitening comes before anything is bonded, since porcelain and composite cannot be bleached later, and a restoration matched to an unwhitened tooth looks dark once everything around it lightens. The restorative work is staged after that.

If you are working toward an event, say so early. We will tell you honestly what fits the time you have, and what we would not rush. Compressing a sequence tends to cost you the result you came for.
