Three tools do most of the heavy lifting here: a CEREC milling unit, a Fotona laser, and a dental operating microscope. None of them replace a dentist's hands. What they change is how much we can see before we start, and how often you leave with the work finished instead of a temporary and a second appointment to book.

Focused light instead of a scalpel, with less bleeding and often no stitches.

High magnification, so we can see the cracks and decay the eye misses.
Learn moreA crown normally takes two visits. The tooth gets prepared, an impression goes out to a lab, you wear a temporary for a couple of weeks, and you come back to have the real one fitted. CEREC moves the lab into the room.
We scan the tooth, design the crown on screen while you sit up, and mill it from a solid ceramic block while you wait. It is bonded the same day. No putty tray, no temporary, no return trip. Not every tooth qualifies, and we will tell you straight when yours does not.
The laser treats soft tissue with focused light instead of a blade. For gum recontouring, a tongue or lip tie release, or support during gum disease treatment, that usually means less bleeding and often nothing to stitch at the end. Healing tends to be quicker.
There is no drill noise. You wear tinted glasses while it runs, and so do we. It is one option on the tray rather than a replacement for everything else, and we reach for it where it gives a better result than the alternative.
A dental operating microscope magnifies a tooth far past what loupes or the naked eye can show. It picks up hairline cracks and decay hiding under an old filling, early enough that we can treat conservatively rather than aggressively.
In a root canal it counts for more. Each step is checked visually as it happens instead of estimated and confirmed afterward. Magnification can add time to an appointment. For work measured in fractions of a millimeter, that time is what buys you a tooth you keep.
You are allowed to ask why a particular tool is being used on you. Before anything begins you get a written plan naming what we recommend and what it costs. We go through the alternatives with you, including leaving a tooth alone for now and watching it.
Equipment is not the reason to pick a dentist. It is what lets a dentist do careful work in less of your time. If the simpler approach gets the same result, that is the one we will put in front of you.
